With a week to go before World of Warcraft Forever’s beta spins down and the true preparations for launch gear up, there’s one thing that’s clear beyond a doubt: This has been one popular test run. Third-party sites tracked over a million characters created in the beta to date, with a pretty even split between Alliance and Horde.

If you’re curious — and you totally are, admit it — the most popular class in the beta has been the Hunter at 15.6%, followed by the Warrior, Paladin, and Druid. The least popular? The poor, beleaguered Warlock, sitting at 9.1% and only just behind the Priest at 9.2%. Probably because of the popular Undead Paladin pairing, the Forsaken race took first place for racial picks (Human and Orc as second and third), with Troll sitting at dead last.

In other WoW Forever news, Blizzard said that it has a new “weapon” in its arsenal against real-money trading called Temporary Economy Hold that restricts suspect accounts from trading, using mail, accessing guild banks, and engaging with the auction house. “Our aim with this new system is to aggressively shut down the flow of suspicious gold before it has been transferred or put into circulation into the economy, while providing us the time needed to investigate more thoroughly,” the studio’s devs said.
