The big one was Day z that lead to h1z1 which started as a survival game but blew up when it included the first big BR mode which eventually led to pubg and fortnite. The genre then spawned extraction shooters like arc raiders and tarkov. Now another mod for Arma(King of the hill) has lead to Wardogs. Really is awesome to see how games that embrace modding lead to some pretty amazing things.
