9 Kings is now out on mobile. Developed by Sad Socket Studio, this fast-paced roguelike kingdom builder is all about building your empire and watching massive armies fight over your crown. Become powerful enough to take down your rivals and prove that you’re the King of Kings.

You can focus on stockpiling gold to hire mercenaries, mess around with the forces of nature, bend the laws of time, experiment with dark magic, or raise hordes of fiendish imps to do your fighting for you. The devs have managed to create nine distinct flavours of gameplay from a relatively simple foundation.

The actual kingdom-building side revolves around expanding your citadel by strategically placing cards across your territory. You get nine cards and nine tiles. Every placement can make a difference as you expand your land, upgrade buildings and towers, recruit troops, and stack different effects and spells to make your forces stronger.

You’ll also be building your deck as you go, looting rival kings for their unique cards and mixing them with your own to discover powerful synergies. Then, get ready to defend your territory against increasingly powerful enemies, survive massive battles, and deal with dozens of unique events as the years roll by. War, strife, and unpredictable situations will keep testing your kingdom.

33 is the number!

The goal during a regular run is to make it to year 33, defeat the big bad, and technically win the game. Sessions can take anywhere from around 20 minutes to an hour, depending on how things go. But year 33 is where the real fun begins, because that’s when you can test your carefully built kingdom against enemies that grow exponentially stronger.

9 Kings has asynchronous multiplayer, too, where you can battle eight rival kings, climb the ranks, and customize your appearance. The mobile version includes Google Play Games achievements, and there’s cross-progression between mobile and PC. Cloud Save is also supported.
