The Squadron 42 Steam page is now live, allowing players to wishlist Cloud Imperium Games’ upcoming single-player space adventure ahead of its planned Q2 2027 release. The game has also received a new trailer, while its official website has been updated to allow wishlisting through the developer’s own platform.

No specific release date has been announced, with the current window remaining the second quarter of 2027. Players can wishlist the game on Steam or through the official website.

The update comes as Cloud Imperium Games hosts a preview event at its UK office this weekend. Some influencers have already shared their impressions of the game, although gameplay capture was not permitted at the event.

What Is Squadron 42?

Squadron 42 is a standalone, story-driven campaign set in the same universe as Star Citizen. Players take on the role of a rookie United Empire of Earth Navy recruit, embarking on a cinematic military adventure that combines space combat with missions across capital ships, space stations and other locations.

The game features a high-profile cast that includes Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman and Mark Strong. Its story focuses on the player’s progression through military service, with combat, sacrifice and consequential decisions shaping their journey.

Unlike Star Citizen, which centres on a persistent multiplayer universe, Squadron 42 is designed as a single-player experience.

Squadron 42 PC System Requirements

The Steam page also lists the game’s minimum PC requirements. Players will need Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM and a graphics card with 8 GB of VRAM.

The listed requirements specify a 64-bit processor and operating system. Cloud Imperium Games has yet to provide a confirmed release date beyond the current Q2 2027 window.
