Keep The Beat And Send Your Army Into Battle

Ratatan takes place on Rataport, a lively island inhabited by unusual, animal-like creatures who share one rather ambitious dream: reaching a place called The Everafter and meeting the Goddess said to live there. As heroes carrying the hopes of their community, the Ratatans set off on their journey, refusing to give up even when things go wrong.

The action combines side-scrolling combat with rhythm-based commands. Rather than simply charging into battle, you’ll need to hit the right sequences in time with the music to direct your Cobun companions. Where you position your Ratatan, when you issue orders and when you decide to retreat can all make a difference.

There can be more than 100 characters involved in the same enormous melee, so expect plenty of activity on screen. The soundtrack isn’t just background noise, either – it’s central to the way you control your forces. Getting into the rhythm is one thing; keeping your army alive while the battlefield descends into chaos is another.

A Colourful Roguelike Built For Repeat Adventures

Ratatan’s hand-crafted 2D animation gives its cast plenty of personality, while the roguelike structure encourages you to keep returning to the adventure. Failure isn’t the end of the road for these determined little heroes, and the journey towards The Everafter is one they’re prepared to attempt again and again.

There’s also room to bring friends along. Online co-op supports up to four players, adding a multiplayer dimension to the rhythm-led battles. Coordinating your commands with others could make for a lively experience, particularly when the screen is full of enemies and allies.
