Byepervisor Reborn 破解 PS5 13.60 固件 Hypervisor,开发者警告普通用户暂不可用

Byepervisor Reborn Cracks the PS5 Hypervisor on Firmware 13.60, but Developers Warn It’s Not Useful to Regular Users Yet

The PlayStation 5 homebrew scene has just taken another significant step forward with the release of Byepervisor Reborn, a hypervisor exploit that could expand what modified PS5 consoles can do on firmware 13.60. However, this is a foundation for developers rather than a finished, consumer-ready jailbreak, and several features still require additional work.

As detailed in the project's GitHub documentation, the exploit targets a vulnerability in the console's recovery from Rest Mode, which allows access to the hypervisor's address space and disables execute-only memory protections, leaving the kernel available for dumping and patching. Crucially, it ships without homebrew-enabling patches or other components needed to turn that access into a complete package for ordinary users:

“This repo should be considered a base exploit for work to be built on top of. It is not useful to regular users in its current release state; this is intended for developers.”

The initial implementation lists support for PS5 firmware versions 13.60 and 13.20, along with an untested 13.00 configuration. Although the underlying vulnerability could potentially be exploited on firmware as old as 6.xx, that should not be confused with comprehensive support in the current release. The developers also suggest a modified implementation could work on 14.00, but none is provided, and that firmware lacks a public kernel exploit anyway.

The release follows a particularly busy period for PS5 hacking, likely fueled by AI tools. September's Relapse exploit combined a browser vulnerability with kernel access and an ELF loader, bringing publicly accessible exploitation to firmware 13.60. It also substantially improved the process compared with earlier methods that could leave the system hanging for around 50 minutes per attempt.

Byepervisor Reborn could now provide the missing foundation for Linux on newer firmware and improved homebrew and package-loading support. Those outcomes remain prospective, however. Updated payloads, patches, and firmware-specific testing must follow before users can benefit from them. Still, the achievement is substantial.

Other advances have made modified PlayStation 5 consoles increasingly useful: Linux support reached firmware 7.61, while existing homebrew applications included emulators and unofficial 60 FPS modifications for older PS4 games. The accompanying jailbreak update also describes ongoing work to extend Byepervisor Reborn to additional firmware versions.

The accelerating momentum is increasingly visible in what jailbroken consoles can already run. As we reported just yesterday, the unofficial PSBOX Cloud Gaming client brings Xbox Cloud Gaming to modified PS5 systems, while native PS3 emulation has also emerged as a notable recent capability. These projects remain limited to jailbroken hardware, but they show why a hypervisor exploit is so significant: it could remove one of the last major restrictions preventing newer firmware from supporting the same advanced homebrew experiences as older consoles.
