It has been months since the game’s launch, and now PlayStation and Housemarque have released the new Zenith update for Saros.
This free update adds new content to the game that promises to give players more challenge, as well as add extra replayability. Zenith also adds a bunch of new features that make the game more accessible to gamers who might struggle with Saros’ pace.
To get a better idea of what to expect, you can check out the update’s launch trailer here:
One of the biggest additions in this update is the Overlord Rush mode. As its name implies, this is a boss rush mode that can be accessed via the Primary Unit in the Passage. In-universe, this is just a training simulation, so the stakes may not feel as “real” as a proper run. But what’s great is that this lets players face off against the game’s big bosses.
Players can try out different “Sets” in this mode, with each set featuring a different selection of Overlords. The “Totality” Set (which is the final set) should give players a big challenge, as this will pit players against all eight Overlords in one gauntlet. The better you do, the higher your ranking on the leaderboard, which integrates results from players all over the world.
Along with this boss rush mode, the update adds a New Game+ mode that’s called “Eclipse Layers.” Players must add enough Trial Modifiers to access the new levels, which are more intense versions of the game’s levels. This should give players an extra challenge.
Plus, 12 “Visions” have been added into the game’s Eclipse layers. To see these, players will need higher levels of the Crown. In this update, the Crown is worn by Arjun, and it glows brighter alongside his armor when the Modifier Balance is higher. Thus, you’ll also need to equip more trials to see these Visions.
On the flip side, Zenith adds 10 new Protection Modifiers, giving newer players a better shot against difficult foes. If that’s not enough, there’s the new “Slow Game Speed” option that can be turned on in the settings. With this, players can have the game slow down automatically during intense fights, or they can manually toggle it.
Finally, the update adds an “Auto-fire” accessibility option. While this doesn’t make perfect reloads automatic, the fact that players won’t have to worry about aiming and firing should make it easier to focus on movement and dodging enemy attacks.
Saros is out now exclusively on the PS5.
