The brand new GameMaker Medal.tv extension allows you to bring the awesome social power of Medal.tv to your game simply and easily!

Medal is more than a simple screen recorder; it’s an all-in-one app for PC and mobile that captures, edits, and shares the best clips from your games, like the ones you see on TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Medal.tv is extremely easy to implement into your GameMaker project, requiring only a few function calls to be added to your game. Check out the documentation and grab the extension here.

Whether you’re making in-game montages, quick clips, highlight reels, or just memorialising your silly moments, Medal makes it effortless and simple, without the lag of other screen recording tools. Medal.tv lets your players capture and share game clips for free, without any complicated setup on your or their end. It also features audio channel separation by default, so you can keep your Discord call separate from your game audio, a built-in video editor, and full mobile device synchronization to let your players take their clips anywhere with them.

Medal is currently partnered with Greenman Gaming, Jestr.GG, and Voicemod. For more about why gamers choose Medal, see here.

With sixteen million people using Medal to create game clips, and over three billion clips already recorded, Medal is a new frontier for content creators and regular gamers alike and could add a little extra oomph to your game, with the shareability of these short video clips being a major factor in helping your game become more easily discovered and marketed.

Ken Colton, CEO at Medal, says, “GameMaker and Medal are a natural fit. GameMaker lowers the barrier to making games, and Medal lowers the barrier to making something out of playing them. Clipping is also one of the most natural ways for a new game to get discovered: a player catches a great moment, shares it with friends, and that's how a game nobody's heard of finds its first fans. Most indie developers don't have a marketing budget, so we want that to be a few lines of code away for every GameMaker game.”

Beyond GameMaker x Medal.tv Extension, Get More Out of Medal!

If you are interested in deeper partnerships and integrations, here are a few other things Medal offers studios and developers:

Auto-Clipping

A core feature Medal brings for developers is Event Auto-Clipping. When something that the developer defines as ‘clip-worthy’ happens, Medal will automatically clip that moment for the player. This increases the number of juicy moments a player can share with their friends. .

Developers can set up auto-clipping self-serve on Medal by claiming their game on Medal for Developers (Beta). It’s free to set up, and we highly recommend configuring it to help players capture relevant highlights from their gaming sessions.

Featuring

Medal is actively working with studios across all genres and budget classes (AAA to indie) to help spotlight your game and get it in front of the right audience. Medal has run campaigns across playtest recruitment, demos, launch, and live ops for Super Evil Megacorp, YapYap, Airport Security Sucks, Mixed Realms, ZeroSpace, Blumhouse Games, Zenless Zone Zero, Mob Entertainment, 1047, and so many more. Unlike other platforms, we know what players clip and play, helping you spend your marketing dollars more efficiently.

Medal is also partnered with Jestr.GG and offers discounts on qualifying Medal x Jestr Campaigns. If you’re interested, reach out to our team here.

As with all of our GameMaker extensions, this is available to you for free! Check out the documentation and grab the extension here, and if you have any questions or comments, leave a note in the GitHub repo.
