There has been yet another long pause from Eternal Tombs, the upcoming MMORPG from developer Triune Studios. As a refresher, this one was previously was known as War of Dragnorox and promised a hardcore gameplay experience with events kicked off by live GMs all the way back in 2021. Since its initial announcement and name change, multiple playtests have been run, and the last major announcement was shared a couple of months ago, with Triune stating that its game was earmarking an early 2027 release and that it was planning a demo for this month’s Steam Next Fest.

Well, we now have a new video from the project, and it has a few revelations to share with followers, not the least of which being that Triune Studios is actually one person who says that the entire game has been built wholesale by him for the past nine years.

“I’ve kept this hidden for a very long time because I was scared to say it. I don’t want people to think less of the final product,” the MMO’s sole dev admits. “Eternal Tombs is self-funded and built entirely by me; I’ve done art, I’ve done programming, server setup, buildout, I’ve bought a lot of assets from the stores to help with art creation. I’ve tried to find good help, but never quite got it.”

In spite of this being a solo project, the dev still outlines the vast amount of content that’s been built, including a combat model that’s similar to New World’s, over 30 zones in its map, “multiple cool dungeons and fortresses” for players to uncover, a “vast” endgame that promises raids and even secret zones that are unlocked by completing quests or endgame encounters, and of course there are still the events to consider, which still appear to be on the table.

To that point, the game is preparing to release a demo “any day now” once Steam approves it, which will make the MMORPG playable ahead of Steam Next Fest. The demo promises between five to 20 hours’ worth of content, a Halloween-themed event set in a location known as Hallowed Grave, and the promise of “multiple Tomb Master events” – aka the GM-run events that have been a primary selling point for the title.

Finally, Triune’s dev projects the game for early March 2027, with polishing of combat and dungeons still being worked on. The gameplay video with all of these announcements can be watched in full below.
