This year’s competition is being held in collaboration with PlayStation® and attracted 731 entries from 53 countries and regions, representing over 40% growth over last year. Winners will be selected across eight award categories, including the Grand Prix. Breakout Titles Among the Finalists! 45 Teams from 20 Countries and Regions Advance to the Final Round, with Taiwanese Developers Making a Strong Showing
A total of 45 outstanding teams from 20 countries and regions have advanced to the Final Round of this year’s competition, representing Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, China, Poland, Italy, Thailand, United Kingdom, Brazil, Canada, Israel, the United States, Australia, India, Argentina, Czech Republic, Cyprus, France, Germany, and Hong Kong. Among the finalists are Japan’s breakout title Ratatan, which raised more than JPY 219 million in crowdfunding during development. Thailand’s Lost and Found Co., which combines classic hidden-object gameplay with character-driven storytelling and office decoration, earning overwhelmingly positive feedback from players. NAME OF THE WILL, a hand-drawn psychological horror adventure from a US-based team, and Brazil’s GHOSTLESS, which invites players to reflect on contemporary issues such as AI development, human identity, technology ethics, and trust. Together, these titles showcase a rich variety of gameplay, art styles, narratives, and themes from developers around the world, reaffirming the international reach and diversity of the Indie Game Award.
Taiwanese developers also delivered a strong showing, with 10 teams advancing to the Final Phase. Among them are OPUS: Prism Peak, which has received perfect scores from international media outlet for its moving narrative and refined visual artistry; Rubinite, which attracted the interest of a prominent Taiwanese venture capital fund; and Selfie Worm, which was selected for Tokyo Game Show’s “Selected Indie 80” and named a finalist for “Sense of Wonder Night.” All three impressed the international panel of professional judges during the Pre-Selection Phase, demonstrating that Taiwanese developers can hold their own on the global stage.
Taipei Game Show Connects Taiwanese Developers with Global Opportunities
As Taiwan’s largest gaming event, Taipei Game Show continues to connect developers with game shows around the world. This year, TGS has helped 35 Taiwanese indie game studios in exhibiting at events across Japan, Brazil, South Korea, and Canada. More developers will also take part in upcoming events in Thailand, Lithuania, and Canada. Through both in-person participation and remote showcases, these efforts are helping Taiwanese games reach more players while showcasing Taiwan’s game development capabilities to overseas publishers.
Each year, TGS’s INDIE HOUSE offers developers an ideal opportunity to showcase the results of their work over the past year. Exhibitor registration will move to the waitlist stage on October 21, and developers are encouraged to seize this last chance to meet players face to face, exchange ideas with fellow developers from around the world, and connect with international publishing partners to bring their games to a global audience.
