NVIDIA has announced that DLSS 5 is coming to Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet this November. To be more precise, Hogwarts Legacy will get DLSS 5 on November 5, and Where Winds Meet will get it later in the month.

It’s also worth noting that NVIDIA was able to optimize DLSS 5 so that it can run faster on its hardware. As the green team noted, through a combination of systematic pipeline optimizations and neural model refinements, the performance of DLSS 5’s 3D-Guided Neural Rendering model is improving by 2X this week.

The October DLSS 5 update will shrink the footprint by 24%, to about 118 million parameters. It will also cut VRAM use by 20% at 4K. These changes will cut GPU load in half compared to the September version, while keeping image quality at a similar level.

NVIDIA has shared a video that shows these gains in NBA 2K27. Sadly, we do not have real performance numbers. The video uses MFG X6, which makes it hard to see how much faster the new DLSS 5 model is on its own. It would have been more useful to see the gains without MFG. That way, we could see how much the new DLSS 5 model helps performance.

Anyway, on an NVIDIA RTX 5080, NBA 2K27 ran at 240 FPS at 4K with DLSS Performance Mode and MFG X6. With the new DLSS 5 model, the game runs at 300FPS at 4K with the exact same settings.

2K Games will release an update that will add support for the new DLSS 5 model on October 16th.

Before we wrap up, NVIDIA has added a new Preset C for Frame Gen in the beta build of the NVIDIA App. This new mode aims to boost performance in DLSS Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.

Preset C uses a simpler AI model to boost frame rates. It works with GeForce RTX 40 and RTX 50 Series GPUs. However, it may cause more visual flaws. So, if you care more about image quality, it is best to stick with Preset B.
