Independent studio One Way Eleven has revealed Hanno: A Magical Tale, a story-driven action-adventure about a boy and a baby elephant who become family. Inspired by a real Asian elephant sent from Portugal to the Pope in 1514, the game reimagines an original fantasy where his story finally belongs to him.
In Hanno: A Magical Tale, players take on the role of Vimal, an orphaned boy from a small village. He finds Hanno, an unusual baby elephant, left alone and wounded in the forest. The boy promises to take care of an animal. However, he doesn’t know that Hanno possesses the magic which can make him stronger. Though that magic only works while Vimal carries him. The duo of friends grows closer as they face a mysterious threat that begins corrupting their world.
The journey unfolds across Ashar, an original world with its own written language, built to feel like a forgotten legend. Its lush forests, old water channels, and murals hold tenderness and threat in the same frame, with most of the story living in what players find along the way. Players have to complete different puzzles, explore locations and even engage in combats.
