Richard Garriott 声称《Shroud of the Avatar》借助 AI 工具已完全没有任何 bug

Richard Garriott claims that Shroud of the Avatar has no bugs whatsoever thanks to AI tools

Richard Garriott 在 TechJesse 播客中声称,《Shroud of the Avatar》借助 AI 工具已实现每日 0 bug。该 MMORPG 此前长期至少有 1000 个 bug,部分遗留 3 至 5 年未修复,如今 AI 能在发现后 1 小时内修好。他强调 AI 负责劳动、人类负责艺术判断,并因此更深度参与开发。

Are we shut down yet?

We now have proof positive that Shroud of the Avatar’s wide-reaching major update was put together with AI, and that Richard Garriott is indeed all about the tech as many have presumed. How do we know? Because this came from Garriott’s mouth itself.

Speaking on the TechJesse podcast, Garriott made some bold claims about how AI tools have helped transform the MMORPG. “Shroud of the Avatar has persistently had at least a bug count of a thousand bugs all the time. […] There are some bugs that were on there for three to five years that have never been addressed because they weren’t seen as high priority,” he’s quoted as saying. “Now, with AI, those bugs are fixed as soon as they’re found, within an hour of them being found.”

Garriott further extols how these AI tools work, talking up the ability to document what was done, compare bug reports, recompile reports and test that the fix continues to work, and propose a solution that is checked by a person beforehand. “It is dramatically superior to any human workflow, any previously purely human workflow. […] Shroud of the Avatar now has zero bugs, every day. Zero,” he claims.

Garriott does take at least a moment to acknowledge the issues with utilizing generative AI tools, emphasizes human collaboration with these tools, and claims that the team is making sure it’s using them “ethically,” but ultimately he is extremely bullish on the technology and admits that it has now gotten him more personally involved with development of SOTA. “It lets me, who used to be very distant from it, now get right in the weeds,” he says. “I can actually be right there on the front line. […] AI did the work for me just fine, but it has no judgment capability to know if this is where we want to go as a piece of art. Humans do the art, machines can help do the labor.”
