卡普空透露《生化危机:安魂曲》最初为在线游戏,解释为何放弃该方向
Capcom says Resident Evil Requiem started out as an online game, explains why the idea was abandoned
According to Capcom, Resident Evil Requiem was originally going to be an online game.
That detail was revealed in the recently-released Nikkei Entertainment Biohazard 30th Special magazine. Producer Masachika Kawata was the one to talk about Resident Evil Requiem’s online origins.
Kawata said the online focus was led by director Koshi Nakanishi. During development, Capcom received disappointing results from a survey, which led the team “to prioritize the horror concept again and abandoned the online direction.”
Kawata also said that it was initially decided to have Leon be the protagonist. Grace came about since the team wanted to have a character that emphasized the game’s horror aspects.
The full translation from Kawata is as follows:
“Every project is a continuous process of trial and error. For example, with Resident Evil Requiem, Koshi Nakanishi (Director of the First Game Development Department, First Game Development Office, CS First Development Division) was initially developing it as an online game. However, the results of a survey conducted midway through development were not favorable, so we decided to prioritize the horror concept again and abandoned the online direction. Leon was initially decided as the protagonist. But we decided that ‘horror wouldn’t work with just Leon, who is highly skilled in combat,’ so we decided to introduce Grace as a new character.”
Resident Evil Requiem is available on Nintendo Switch 2. A story expansion for the title will be released in the future.
