SEGA and The Creative Assembly have finally launched Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition on PC, featuring pretty much all the DLCs of the original, coupled with an array of improvements.
If you ask many Total War fans what the best game in the series is, chances are that many of them will mention Shogun 2. With this re-release, new players can finally discover what makes Shogun 2 such a beloved series entry, while long-time fans have more reason to return. That’s because this isn’t just a simple compilation release, as it features plenty of gameplay and visual enhancements that almost make it a remaster of the original.
Here’s a quick rundown of the highlight additions and improvements:
- Full Japanese and Chinese voice and text localization
- Improved visuals, lighting and shadows
- 1440p and 4K UI scaling
- Modernised controls
- More than 50 newly playable factions
- Integrated Mod.io support
- 64-bit upgrade
- Ultrawide monitor support
- Colourblind accessibility options
Note that existing owners of Shogun 2 will get all the DLC for the original game (except The Blood Pack) for free to celebrate this version’s release, but they won’t get a free upgrade to the Complete Edition. What they can get is a time-limited 75% loyalty discount for this new version.
Also, with the Complete Edition out now, the original version of Total War: Shogun 2 is no longer available to purchase on its own. But players can access the original version on Steam if they purchase this new version, as it remains fully playable.
