Polish developer Rebel Wolves and publisher Bandai Namco have announced that Update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker is now live, adding new features and fixing quite a lot of bugs and issues.

Arguably, the highlight of the patch is the plethora of combat improvements, including better targeting, clearer enemy attack readability, less restrictive camera movement, improved lock-on and disengagement from enemies, and improved Dirty Trick behavior. All of these were issues I noticed during my review playthrough, and while they ultimately did not meaningfully detract from my enjoyment, it's nice to see the studio fixing them relatively quickly.

For those who had trouble getting through the game's foes, a new lower difficulty level has been introduced featuring additional combat assist. The health of forest animals has been greatly reduced, too. Another notable feature of Update 1.1 is the addition of the so-called Draught of Mind Rebirth, which allows players to respec Coen's skill trees. Traversal in vampire form has been improved thanks to better responsiveness in targeting and attaching to surfaces when using skills like Shadowstep and Planeshift. On the tech side, the Frame Generation implementation has been enhanced and can now be tweaked with new settings.

Animals can now be pet as well, and same-price buyback from vendors is available. The changelog shows a lot more small changes of this kind, such as:

  • Equipped items are now hidden when selling items.
  • Added a "Buyback" feature when interacting with merchants.
  • Added controller deadzone settings in Options.
  • Rebalanced the cost of upgrading items, especially on higher levels.
  • Items can now be equipped in both presets (day, night) simultaneously.
  • Reduced the health of boars and wolves on higher levels.
  • Tooltip for a stack of items in the inventory will now properly refresh its weight and value after consuming an item.
  • Fixed an issue that blocked players from selecting dialogue options or items when using a controller.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Active Ability cooldown reduction to not update the cooldown in the character tab, despite the damage of Active Abilities being updated.
  • Fixed an issue that caused switching from the crafting menu to the map using a controller to disable zooming in and out with the right analog stick.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from accessing different character tabs after loading a save in the prologue.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the cursor to appear and controls to change to mouse and keyboard input.
  • Multiple localization fixes.

The Blood of Dawnwalker was very well received by critics (including myself, as you can read in Wccftech's review), and it also became a million-seller in short order. The studio hasn't yet announced any plans for DLC, though.
