PC Game Pass is now available for Linux and Valve Corporation’s SteamOS, courtesy of the Xodus Nexus Launcher.
The open-source project allows users to browse, install and launch the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass games on Linux and SteamOS. Developed by GitHub user domsvoboda, the unofficial launcher incorporates a modified back-end and runtime into the Xodus project to make Microsoft’s PC gaming library accessible outside Windows. Users can download the latest x86_64 Linux AppImage from the project’s GitHub Releases page. After installation, they must download the Nexus back-end and runtime through the launcher’s settings and sign in with a Microsoft account. A valid game purchase or active subscription is required to access licensed titles.
Xodus Nexus features a unified library combining purchased games, Game Pass titles and installed games. Users can browse the Microsoft Store, manage downloadable content, queue installations and create shortcuts to add games to Steam. The aforementioned feature supports Steam’s Game Mode, making it convenient for Steam Deck owners. That said, native Linux Steam is required, as Flatpak Steam is not currently supported.
The launcher also supports Xbox sign-in and cloud saves for compatible games. Experimental gamepad navigation enables controller-based browsing, while keyboard, mouse and touch controls remain available. However, some interactions, including system file pickers and sign-in windows, still require conventional input methods.
According to the project’s compatibility list, many titles have been reported playable, including Forza Horizon 6, Gears of War: E-Day, Sea of Thieves, No Man’s Sky, DOOM Eternal and Hollow Knight: Silksong. Though, some games have partial, unverified or unsuccessful results, including those where online services or anti-cheat systems are involved.
It’s worth remembering that the launcher is an independent project that isn’t affiliated with Microsoft or Xbox, nor is it a release from the upstream Xodus developers. A valid game license is required.
